What is a Facial Skin Peel?

Verve Facial Aesthetics

An excellent way to achieve radiant skin and address skin concerns is through a facial skin peel.

Skin peels can come in different forms but they all essentially aim at exfoliating the outer skin layer to reveal fresher radiant skin underneath.

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance

The Obagi Blue Radiance Peel is a Salicylic Acid based peel that is gentle, effective and has very little down time post treatment. The treatment only takes 30 minutes start to finish and you will leave the clinic with glowing skin, you could even go out for an event that evening!

Who is it For?

Anyone who wishes to have more radiant, tighter complexion with minimal downtime.

The treatment works well for oily skins, acne-prone skins, reducing large pores, helping to reducing scarring and fine line.

The salicylic acid helps to reducing the oil within the skin to clear the pore pathway reducing congestion and smoothing skin tone.

The Treatment

The skin is prepared by cleansing and once prepped the salicylic acid solution is applied by a trained professional.

The solution penetrates the upper skin layers and after 3 minutes a second layer of the solution is applied. After only 12 minutes the treatment is complete, where you are once again cleansed, moisturised and SPF applied.

You are now ready to carry on your day!

Downtime

Immediately post treatment there may be some slight redness within some individuals which subsides within an hour.

Any dryness is addressed by applying moisturiser as needed but this varies from one individual to another dependent on your skin type.

At about day three some light peeling may be noticeable as the outer skin layer is exfoliated. This again can be treated with moisturiser.

How often can I have the treatment?

You can have an Obagi Blue Peel Radiance peel every month. The peel is effective after only one treatment but it is advised to attend for at least three sessions to see the best improvements.

Always remember to use an SPF to protect your skin from UV rays.

Hi There, How deep a peel is this? I've only ever had a Dermalogica 3 layer peel and it was ok, but I didn't really notice a great difference. How would the Obagi compare? I've thought about an Obagi peel in the past but just never gotten round to it.

Hi Mandy, the Blue Radiance peel is considered a gentle peel so it helps to exfoliate and resurface the skin without excessive downtime of deeper peels. Although, you do notice an improvement in skin tone, reduction in pore size and tightness, after one treatment a course of at least three treatments is recommended. Having one once a month would be the ideal.

Using Obagi skin care products at home would also help improve skin quality, especially a retinol based cream to maintain the cell turnover and continue the efficient cell renewal process. A minimum of a good wash, tone (to balance skin pH), retinol cream (where there are no contra-indications), moisturiser and SPF for the day.

Hope this helps!

I visited this clinic this evening. Beautiful clinic, very welcoming and friendly. I had met Dr Mark before this clinic opened when he was doing itenery Botox clinics and tried a few other practitioners before deciding that he was the best. A thorough consultation followed by a very painless and relaxing procedure. I definitely recommend this clinic.
